Troubleshooting Push Notification Issues

pHin will send push notifications to your mobile phone when your pool or hot tub has at least one required action. Recommend actions do not trigger push notifications and may be completed at your convenience.

Regular priority notifications are sent once a day at 6pm. Urgent notifications for Unsafe water conditions are sent immediately between 8am and 8pm.

If you've had required actions in your pool or hot tub but are not receiving push notifications, please review the common issues and possible solutions below.

Push Notifications Disabled

Make sure the pHin app has notifications enabled in your devices system settings. Also ensure that features like Quiet Time or Do Not Disturb are disabled in your system settings.

Battery Saving Mode

Some devices will delay push notifications to save battery. Delays can be as long as 15 minutes. Ensure your device is plugged into a power source.

Cellular Connectivity:

Some devices can have issues connecting to their push notification systems. The best way to resolve this issue is to restart your device. 

Wifi Network / Firewall:

Some networks or firewalls may block the ports required for push notifications to work. Ensure that your network and/or firewall allows traffic on ports 5223 and/or 5228-5230.


General Troubleshooting:
  • Reboot your device.
  • Enable airplane mode for at least 15 seconds and then disable airplane mode.
  • Ensure push notifications are enabled for the pHin app.
  • Try connecting to a known working wifi network.
